Saraswathi - Goddess of Music & Knowledge

Saraswathi is the goddess of knowledge and music and is often portrayed sitting on a lotus and holding a Veena; an indian stringed instrument. During the festival of Navarathri, when Hindu's worship all female deities, on specific days a family will collect study books, instruments of learning and other artefacts of knowledge to offer to Saraswathi for successful ventures in learning.
