Durga - Goddess of destruction
Durga is one of the more destructive of the Hindu deities with good reason. Hindu's believe in cycles of birth, life, death and rebirth and as such desctruction is an integral part of the religious beliefs. The manifestation of Durga represents a deity that destroys negativity. In Hindu mythology Durga is often portrayed riding a lion or tiger and will often be in the process of destroying the asura (demon) Mahisha. The Legend has it that Mahisha was a powerful demon who obtained great powers and obtained the boon of being indestructable to any man - something that the female deity had no problem overcoming.All cards are hand finished by the artist and are therefore unique and may differ in style to that of the example shown.
